Most average consumers will simply pick up the console which is cheaper and gets free game. Not sure how much gears had a impact though. We need more conclusive numbers and to analyze it.

Well looking at Game (where the largest number of UK gaming hardware purchases take place):

PS4 Slim (500gb) incl FIFA 17 & Star Wars Battlefront & 3 month Now TV pass = £239.99

Xbox One Slim (500gb) incl FIFA 17 = £249.99

So it looks like this time most consumers didn`t go for the cheaper one with a free game

That's at the moment, the console prices have been weird over the month. Earlier in the month there were loads of PS4 plus FIFA deals for £150 (to get rid of the non-slims), few similar Xbone deals too. Now it's more stable but Xbox had Gears as it's big game while PS4 didn't have an exclusive, just the multiplatforms. Both consoles are pretty much the same.

Hmm, pie.
