Essentially, there's confidence in several astronomers that there ahve been morse code like signals from distant star systems. The details get a bit gritty but essentially this was something hypohtesised a few years ago and now they are finding these light signals years later that seem to "make sense"
The article does end however saying there have been a few false alarms when it comes to ETI(Extra terrestual Intelligence) signals.

I don't know about you folks but for quite sometime now, and it only continues as I get older, I have found that it is very unlikey we are alone in the universe. In fact, I'm not even that concerned about the question anymore, I'd rather move onto the next set of questions regarding ETI - when will lifeforms evolve to the point of being able to send communications across solar systems? Simply sending a sort of S-O-S I imagine would be the first step. I'll wager communication happens in my kid's generation (80years).
So, is ETI likely? If so, when?
