There's bound to be nitpickers for Pokemon, especially those who are long-time fans. Some, including me, enjoyed XY (and it has surpassed BW in terms of LT sales) despite some fans nitpicking the story, the lack of post-story features, less Pokemon for the new region, etc.

fyi, I greatly enjoy Smash 4 as a game. I was actually pretty hyped pre-release and I'd argue that I follow the Smash 4 competitive scene more than anyone in this site (let alone the Melee scene lol). Of course in my perspective, Smash 4 will always be inferior to Melee mechanic/competitive wise because the fact is that it's just slower in every way. I knew that, but I don't let it affect how I view it overall as a game, as I love Smash 4 and I don't mind most of the competitive aspect of it either (zzz camping Sonics).

I think some people are going overboard with all these Sun and Moon criticisms, like seriously wait until you read the entire book instead of judging it on its cover.

Yea and that's totally fine. Camping Sonics aside, I've been fond of Smash 4's scene as well. And you can still nitpick while enjoying the overall game. Just putting Smash 4 as an example.

Ultimately, yeah criticism over Sun and Moon that go overboard can be irritating because we haven't played the actual game (just a teaser demo). Nevertheless, there will be those who think that way even before release for almost any game. It's unfortunate but it's been done before. Wind Waker and Metroid Prime had pre-release doubts from some and they became all-timers.
