The legacy and popularity of the franchise built over 20 years. Pokemon is among the few franchises in the industry with incredible worldwide prestige and recognition beyond gaming (along with Mario and GTA, although with more controversial reasons for the latter). With so much build-up for the 20th anniversary, Game Freak, Pokémon Company, and Nintendo have gone all out with reigniting the passion of capturing and battling Pokemon, exploring regions, and communicating with others. Congrats to Sun and Moon! Can't wait for these games!
