I doubt that it will only support SDXC up to 128 gigs. The reason why the 3DS could only handle up to 64 gigs was due to it being only compatible with SDHC cards. I'm sure the current 128 gig cap has to do with the fact that 256 gig Micro SD cards are fairly new to the market. Over the next few years, Micro SD card capacities WILL go up and get cheaper, and allow for greater internal storage in the process.
Assuming this rumor is true, of course.
