My thoughts are that these are EXACTLY the headsets that Scorpio will support.  They said they weren't doing their own, and everyone assumed Rift or Vive compat..   But it seems these "cheaper" headsets would be the plan.  And with a $299 starting price they will be cheaper then PS VR.
