I doubt there will be any console/handhelds that will be able to breech 100million anymore unless they drag out the generation like they did with the Wii/PS3/360. I think that we will see systems only reach 50-to-80 million range from now on.

With Sony releasing PS4Pro now I don't think we will see PS5 for the next 2 years, so there is a possibility of it crossing 80M, but I agree with you that 100M may be a hard task.

If they release a handheld switch, i think so. the switch ecosystem should combined pass 100 million if it live enough.

There is a handheld Switch. It's called the Switch, lol.

With the controller sides removed it's not even really that much bigger than 3DS XL, the "pocket or nothing" crowd needs to chill out a bit. Very few people carry around a portable game machine in their front pocket to begin with anymore. It's usually in a bag or jacket pockets.

A new revision is not going to increase sales that much.

The times of GB micro are long gone, people wanted smaller cellphones but now want bigger smartphones so I agree that not fitting the pocket isn't the biggest issue (but the sheer size can make it a hard competition against smartphones).

WiiU+3DS are a lot closer to 70M than to 100M.

My bad then, I swear I thought 3ds alone was going to end up with 70m ltd

No problem, 3DS may achieve 70M I don't know, I was just saying that at the moment the sum is close to 70 (someone said 73), so I don't think it will cross 80M-85M on the sum because WiiU won't achieve more than 15M.

Switch can also sell to those who never bought either platform though (one example being Vita owners) so again it's not wild prediction, if priced right I can see it doing fine because it doesn't have brand confusion like the Wii U, the concept is much clearer than with Wii U and it's very likely it'll have a unified library unlike Wii U. Remember a lot of people also wrote off the Wii as well.

Every sale not from a Nintendo fan will have to be clawed from the fingers of Playstation/Xbox/mobile, and that's an uphill battle. Not to say they won't win some over, but it's far from a given. As for the unified library, Nintendo announcing they'll continue supporting 3DS kinda kills that idea.

They may release one or two crossgen and they would be suporting it after Switch, but they will probably kill support as they done in the past, but they can't say that right now since they want to sell on Holidays (same reason why they won't release more information before january or preffers to say Switch is first and foremost a home console).
