For me U4 is the 3rd (= ish) best game in the UC series. It was good, there was nothing really disappointing about it, and the chest high foliage stealth stuff gives more scope for varying how you play through levels. But part of the whole conceit of the story pissed me off from the start so I didn't warm to the game as much as I would have liked and it felt a little like going through the motions. And ultimately, after TLOU I would say UC4 was a backwards step in many respects.
Haven't played RotTR yet, but some opinions have it as not being as good as the reboot. If that proves true for me then it's likely I will like RotTR about the same as UC4.
I'm glad UC has been put away. Without giving any spoilers I think there is scope for a fast forward 10-15 years with a certain character we meet in the epilogue of UC4, with a game in a somewhat different style (less shooty, more adventury), which could emulate a different game from the 6th gen. But still within the UC realm and with the same heart and soul and thematically following the exploits of people and events from our actual history. But first Naughty Dog should either bring us more TLOU, or hit us with another entirely new IP.
