You already can buy a Vertical Stand for PS4 Pro & Slim

The Wii U is the only console in recent memory to include a stand. Personally, I think having them lying down makes the most sense...but that's just me.

The PS3 fat had rubber feet on one side instead.  The slim PS3 too could go vertical with no stand necessary (but no rubber feet), and importantly has no vents blocked (unlike the PS4).  Some say PS3 slim air flow and heat dissipation were slightly improved in vertical, though on occasion drive vibration or noise might increase.  Overall it seems the PS3 had some design decisions with the vertical option in mind, I'm not sure if this level of forethought is there for the PS4.
