Nintendo is committing a lot of the same lethal mistakes they did with the WiiU, and more.

I disagree. I feel the reveal was done rather excellently. The only reason a 3 minute reveal worked was because it managed to explain clearly what the console was, a console that can go with you anywhere. That's why the name works so well too. Want to play your console at home on the TV with a controller? You can do that. Do you need to go, but want to continue playing your game? Take it with you! It looks thin and light, and easily fits into a small bag. You can also take a controller and a charger as well, in case you need the extra power, and still have room in your bag. That's the selling point of the console, and it was delivered very well.

And I think Nintendo was smart to just show off the console, as that is what the point was. By leaving other details out, it keeps it fresh in people's minds, which is what they want. Sure, they can reveal it all, but then what else would there be to wait for? Just the console I guess? Though, by revealing the console in pieces, it keeps the NS lingering in people's minds, so they just don't move on and forget about it. Beside, it's not like they need to reveal it all immediately. Word travels fast these days, so revealing the rest til next year still gives it plenty of time for the news to spread, and if there really are worthwhile things coming to it, people have to wait less for it, perhaps making it more likely people will buy it day 1. There's really no need to talk about every detail in great lengths. Those smaller bits can just come out later. What was important was showing what the console was, and I think the trailer they showed was the best way they could have done it.

Also, I think comparing the selling point to the Wii U and Vita is flawed. The Wii U's gimmick was asymmetric gameplay, as well as being able to play off screen while leaving the TV free for others to use. The Vita was sold as a handheld with console-like graphics, but it wasn't a console. The NS is different from those 2 in that you can play it at home, or on the go. It's your choice and you can switch it on the fly.

So yeah.. I disagree with you.
