I doubt MGS4 will even make it onto the top 10 of gamerankings.

The series, while popular is a sort of niche on it's own, it tends to irritate and frustrate the purist reviewer by its inordinate amount of cutscenes and complex storylines.

While MGS3 made certain story related concessions to make the title more appealing to the average reviewer, the gameplay was mildly flawed and was interwined with an enormous amount of cutscenes which prevented it from reaching anywhere near the top ten all time list.

MGS4 seems likely to repeat the same "mistakes" as MGS2 did, at least in reviewers eyes with an obscene amount of cutscenes and complex storyarch. While MGS2 initially recieved critical praise eventually a blacklash set in where it became the series whipping boy. I doubt MGS4 will get away with the so called shortcomings (though I do not consider them as such) that MGS2 did and so it's likely that scores will drag down considerably below what would be enough to secure a place in the Top 10.

If anything, I expect this game to possibly surpass MGS2 as the best rated in the series based on hype alone, but it's simply a type of game that really pushes the wrong buttons with a lot of gameplay purists.
