No Elite DualShock 4 PS4 Pro controller, says Sony

Looking for a new PS4 Pro controller? Well, you can count out the Elite DualShock 4 as it’s not going to be available for the new console.

Sony won’t release an Elite DualShock 4 controller for the PlayStation 4 Pro, according to system architect, Mark Cerny.

Speaking during an interview with The Verge, Cerny said that the format holder wants to maintain a ‘unified’ audience, and that manufacturing a new controller variation would ultimately splinter that user base.

We want to keep PlayStation 4 as a single unified audience,” he said. “We need to be quite careful to the enhancements we add to the controller. But it’s not the sort of thing that’s going to create have’s and have nots.”

This is in direct contrast to Nintendo and Microsoft, who have been releasing variants of their controllers for a number of years now. For example, Microsoft has launched the Xbox One Elite pad, which is a high-end version of the standard controller.
