No, thats not how it works. Even in a prefect scenario where the Switch sells 20 million+ units in Japan, the PS4 will still do fairly well for 2 big reasons: 1. It will have full Japanese support, as developers cannot make it in the west without the PS4 (lets be honest, anyone thinking that the Switch is a threat for the PS4 is simply put nuts) 2. Its pretty much confirmed that the Switch is weaker than the PS4, so software support will be differentiated. |
Worldwide?Sure.Japan? Not at all.I mean, 3DS is far more popular there than PS4.Hell, Vita total sales are still higher there than the PS4.
I dont mean that PS4 sales will fall off a cliff.Of course it wont. But if you compare Switch and PS4 in Japan, Switch has the potential, and its just the potential, of outselling week-by-week sales of the PS4 and eventually sell so much more than the PS4.I mean, it potentially appeals to handheld and console fans, and as a handheld, it is impressive. So 25+ million is really possible there, since Vita owners and 3DS owners could jump to it.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
