So it can sell like shit in the rest of the world but do alright in Japan like the PS Vita? Because that's exactly what happened with that system when it had no western support but had japanese support. And I say alright loosely there, because it still sold horribly, just not as horribly in Japan as the rest of the world.

The NS needs all the support it can get. Nintendo isn't in a position to be picky about which third party developers they want, they need to be trying to get as many as possible. The NS is already going to be a huge success in Japan and Nintendo have always had better Japanese support than Western support, so if anything it would be that they need to improve western support instead.

Oh please, what Nintendo needs to do first and foremost is to please potential consumers, not third parties. If some douchebag third party says they won't make games for Nintendo for whatever reason, then the first question Nintendo has to ask is not how can we get them to make games for us, but rather are they even important for us. There is no use in designing a system that might entice douchebags when such a design will reduce the number of consumers.

If a third party says they don't want to make any games for Nintendo, then Nintendo shouldn't have the mindset of "Oh fuck those people then, they aren't even important to us, we don't need them" and start burning bridges or anything, they are not in a position to be doing that when they have already had troubled relationships with third parties for years now, they should work to reach an agreement or an understanding with those developers to change that.

I'm not saying Nintendo should give in to third party demands or anything, it's Nintendo's system they can do whatever the fuck they want, but if they want to keep third party support they should at least attempt to reach an agreement. Of course they need to please potential customers as well, but part of that is making sure that they will actually keep consistent third party support with this next console so that those customers that wanna buy a Nintendo console but usually wouldn't because it misses a majority of third party games, can finally have no excuse not to anymore.

Unless you're one of those people that buys a Nintendo console not expecting a lot of third party support and mainly just to get Nintendo games, since I know a lot of people do that, then it wouldn't matter to your purchasing decision anyway. There's never any harm in offering more games on your system, which also adds in to the whole "pleasing potential customers" thing.
