I don't see it. Every time I have played a ps vita / psn cross-over game on ps3 I came away underwhelmed. Big screen and small screen experience are different and often not interchangeable to me.

As a successor to the 3DS, sure. Although without the second screen BC for 3DS games is out too I guess. I've tried handhelds, never had much fun with them, just not for me. So the idea of games being tailored to be a good fit on handhelds is a downside to me.

I liked the gamepad features of Windwaker HD, but this bullshit excuse makes sense now

To me it's a WiiU with less options, now the gamepad is locked inside the dock if you want to play on the tv, no more BC, no more dual screen multiplayer. Bad trade for working anywhere in the house. (not that the wiiU console is hard to move around if needed)

“We realized that having something on the GamePad and looking back and forth between the TV screen and the GamePad actually disrupts the gameplay, and the concentration that the game player may be experiencing. You have your car’s GPS system on your dash. If you had it down in your lap, you’re going to get into an accident! Still, you can play the game entirely on the GamePad screen, if you like. Considering how vast the world is, it would keep you from monopolizing the TV." — Eiji Aonuma

I know a lot of people  just can't stand Pachter (I always enjoyed his Pach-Attacks), but when WiiU released that was one of his main issues with it.

OT: I'm not sure what the market for Switch is...apart from Japan, I really don't understand what demographic they're after.
