Charter isn't available in my area, Comcast is the exclusive cable provider here and they suck.

That sucks. What don't you like about them?

It's not mostly only price gouging.

Comcast has monthly bandwidth caps for Internet. They monitor what you download and are NOT a net neutral provider. They also throttle download speeds. And in areas where there's Comcast, they are generally the monopoly for that area and do extreme price gouging. They also just recently got caught disabling ads for "vote yes on 97" which is a measure that would directly make them pay for the taxes and back taxes they've avoided for years. Talking billions of dollars here, every other single provider in the states has ads for "yes on97" but not Comcast because they are specifically disabling these ads. Super shady business. Then you also have the absurdly overpriced Internet and cable, the general degradation of on demand now vs what it used to be, the fact that their HD channels really aren't HD and noticeably at that.

Comcast really only has two good reasons for my business here in Oregon.

1) they have very very fast internet if you pay for it

2) they win be default for being the only provider in my area that offers cable, let alone really really fast internet.

My term with them ends in a month or two and we will be dropping Comcast for the cable but keeping their internet and signing up for PSVue.  Even losing my bundle discount I'll still shave like $10-$20 off my bill with Vue while getting starz and HBO to boot.
