Or scenario b. Your house catches on fire, you're home is burglarized, or you just vet careless and step on your disc. Collection gone. Seriously, physical is just horrible for anyone that actually cares about their investments.
The only true way to keep your collection is to store it in a bomb shelter. |
Seeing how I am speaking about when the servers for the digital purchases inevitably close for the next service, you are screwed both ways if your house gets burglarized or catches fire. However both of these scenarios are extreme circumstances and seeing how far you had to reach just proves my point.
If you are leaving your CDs around where they can be stepped on, you are not caring for them properly. So this is a pointless argument. It would be like keeping your PS4 in a closed box with no room to breath let alone ventilate and then using that as an example for console failure. It is illogical.
However servers do close. PSP servers are gone, DSi gone, Wii shop gone, and PS360 will be next. When that happens and the HDD fails due to a short lifespan, your collection is gone. If a disc or cartridge goes for whatever reason, I only have to replace that one game.
I will take reliability and longevity over convenience anyday. It does not take long to change the disk or cartridge.
