The industry slid that digital dick in me so slowly, I didnt even know I was being fucked!
Phase 1: cheap, decent Xbox Live Arcade titles.
Me: "Oh, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try out. Oh, this game is on my console like magic!"
Phase 2: Full PSP titles
Me: "Oh, this is MUCH easier than trying to keep up with umd discs! And no scratches either?
Phase 3: PSN/XBL sales
Me: "A fully downloadable console game? For only five dollars? I don't have a lot of space on my HDD but.... Okay"
Phase 4: Cross buy
Me: "So you're telling me I get a free copy of Flower for my Vita, just because I bought it for my ps3? AND now, I get a free copy for my PS4!?! Witchcraft!!"
Phase 5: The preorder
Me: "Hey, by preordering, I can be at home playing the game at 12am instead of waiting in line to buy it. Hell, I might even play the game earlier!"
Now, I'm sold. No turning back now. I have two PS3s, 2 Xbox 360s, two Xbox Ones, and soon I'll have two PS4s. I can go from room to room, playing whenever I feel. My saves come with me automatically. Sometimes, I can play the same game with my daughter on two different consoles at the same time!!
How can anybody not be behind this?
