SONY has put great efforts into avoiding long install times inconveniences. The PS4 has a separate processor/separate RAM that handles background processes, I've seen it in action and it works like a charm.

The Xbox One can do it all without requiring the seperate ARM chip and DRAM.

It's completely up to the developer on Xbox, where-as Sony has probably made it a mandate.
The PS4's seperate chips don't tend to accellerate the transfer rates from the BD-ROM drive anyway, which is the real limiter.

Yes, it can, but it most of the time, it doesn't. Why? I have no idea.

The developers already make it possible on the PS4, and we never heard them complaining. Why aren't they taking the time to do the same on the X1? do they really need their arms twisted when they already do it for one console with a very similar architecture? I dont own a PS4, but I gotta appreciate what SONY has done here, the PS3 was a PAIN to deal with in that regard.
