I think Android needs to look at making a closed version of Android that can run perfectly on older tech and start killing the Iphone market by releasing premium phones at £250 with Samsung and Sony backing them. Apple will most likely capitalise on this since they are seen as Samsung's main competitor and paying silly money will triumph. |
There are up-and-coming Smartphones which use Premium materials and offer decent screens and performance for the mid-range now, you don't have to look any farther than Oppo for that.
Majority of Samsungs 100+ million smartphone sales a year isn't actually high-end devices anyway, it's mid and low-end.
With that said... I wish the Android market would sort itself out in the software space.
My Lumia 920 had years worth of updates and software upgrades and still feels as fast as the day I bought it even with Windows Phone 10... That's in contrast to most Apple devices where performance seems to depreciate every year... And Android devices are forgotten about as soon as the next big thing arrives.
But in order for that change to happen I think Google will need to take the updating reigns from Phone Manufacturers and Network providers. I.E. Not gonna' happen.
One thing is for sure, I'll never own another Samsung Phone after my Note 5, way to many Cons and not enough Pro's.

That's a good point. Competitors have caught up.
Even Samsung's mainline S series isn't that different from the Note now in terms of screen size.
