As much as I love smartphones, I hate that they are all premium priced now and at most have a shelf life of 1-2 years.

I think Android needs to look at making a closed version of Android that can run perfectly on older tech and start killing the Iphone market by releasing premium phones at £250 with Samsung and Sony backing them.

Apple will most likely capitalise on this since they are seen as Samsung's main competitor and paying silly money will triumph.

Why the hell would Samsung want to kill the premium smartphone market? They are one of the TWO manufacturers that benefit the most from that very market, and unlike Apple, they don't invest nearly as much on the software they ship. A different skin on top of Android and extra tricks here and there to differentiate their devices, a much easier job now that Google adopted most of those tricks and baked them into stock vanilla Android.

Besides, Android handsets manufacturers don't make money off the Playstore or Ads. It all goes to Google. Your plan is unrealistic. Not to mention, SONY is irrelevant in the smartphone market.
