The only problem is nothing but crap can be delivered on the current iOS and Android form factors. It doesn't matter how good a developer is, if all you give them to work with is touch screen and tilt, all you will get is throw away shovelware. 

Some people say, but you can use your DS4 and remote play, but that is the ultimate in inconvenience. I already am over loaded when I have to have a phone and a handheld on me, I don't want a phone, and a massive non mobile freindly controller with me at all times.

Finally, I don't want to have to purchase everything twice being forced to use one ecosystem for home,and one for mobile. So either Google and Apple need to give gamers a choice for home that can compete with PS4, PC, and XBO, and a choice that can compete with 3DS and Vita. Or, Sony, Microsoft, & Nintendo need to inject some innovation into the stale, and stagnant mobile industry.

There are plenty of good mobile games, it's all about good developers here. I'm sure the talented handheld developers of Nintendo and Sony can work out some fun games.

If you desparately want real buttons and analog sticks there is not alternative to either a second device or a peripheral that you can plug into existing phones. The latter one is preferred of course because it means you don't have to buy a second device and are not bound to a phone for a whole generation cycle. The latter one is of course the most consumer friendly path but neither Sony nor Nintendo are known for their friendliness but for their love for closed systems.

I wouldn't mind carrying around a peripheral that I can easily plug into any phone as long as I can use my own device.
