Yes, the pro does have a better wi-fi card. It also supports wireless n+ finally which will allow for a much better wireless connection.

Well, there's a difference between MB/s and mbit/s and you may unknowingly be expecting a number that isn't reasonable. For instance 50mbit would equate to about 6.1 megaBYTES per second. The Ethernet port on the Ps4 doesn't really seem to have widespread issues, so you may have some configuration settings to look at.
