Liked your review, good read. Seeing several reviews mention pacing issues in the campaign. You said it started slow on act 1 but ramps up from there, that doesn't sound like pushing issues to me, in fact it sounds like excellent pacing, so my question is are there any luls further in the game that you didn't mention it what's the deal? Cus I don't understand how it has bad pacing if the start is the only slog so to speak. |
Well, if we were talking about a movie or book, then a lot of exposition and world building might be in order. Since it's a game I want to play it, right from the beginning. The first act feels like an extended tutorial, walking players through the motions and introducing new characters, technologies, and ways of life on Sera. People who live for that stuff will surely enjoy it. But for me the story should never overshadow the actual gameplay, and in act I it does. It's pretty much a thrill ride after that, with some of the best set pieces and enemy encounters in the series.
