I wish I had your confidence. :( This situation reminds me unpleasantly of back when they hadn't shown the Wii U version of Project CARS, but still assured us it was coming. I'm also very skeptical of the Q1 2017 release window. Kickstarter projects often see multiple delays, and the further this is pushed back, the less and less likely a Wii U release will become. |
Oh I remember the Project Cars thing quite vividly. Difference for me is that Project Cars was originally announced for PS3, 360, PC, and Wii U. Then they dropped the 360/PS3 version for PS4/XB1. I knew from that point on that the Wii U wasn't ever going to get that game. I also kinda figured that once they got a major publisher on board (Bandai Namco), that the Wii U version was in trouble. Additionally, Slighty Mad aired their concerns of the Wii U version relatively early on, whereas Playtonic hasn't mentioned anything about specific difficulties yet. The fact that Playtonic has another studio helping also eases some worries for me.
I will completely grant your release date skepticism though, and also believe that the more it gets delayed, the less likely the Wii U version is to exist. I'm similarly worried for Bloodstained's Wii U version considering it's release date of 2018. The Wii U is gonna be two years dead with its successor on the market by then. It's not much to me either way admittedly considering I have an XB1, but I do prefer getting third party games on Nintendo hardware. We'll just have to wait and see.
It's healthy to have a fair amount of skepticism, again because Kickstarter and Wii U don't have the best history.
