I think you make some fair points, and it's even something my brother pointed out the other day; Nintendo might fear that the NX is too weak. They do NOT wanna make the same mistake as with the Wii U. A lot of the responses to the leaked NX "news/rumours" weren't all that great, which also might have scared Nintendo.
