Mhmm you do make a really good point there. Its just odd to me that Samsung hasn't said anything about it since they generally have the lion's share of Android phone sales and one would think that Google would get them on board asap. Galaxy S devices supporting Day Dream would allow plenty of people to buy a Day Dream headsets but I suppose that is a reason why we may have not heard of anything. Hopefully things will be more clear tomorrow and its not some sort of a nonsense reason. And it is true about the Gear VR and its maturity but I feel like in the long run, Day Dream will get more support. |
Google knows very well that their platform is in direct competition with Samsung's Gear VR. Samsung will not be amused about it and there will have to be some negotiation before anything Daydream touches Samsung devices.
It could be Gear VR supporting Daydream with a Samsung branded Daydream VR device. Or they'll just collect licensing for Daydream VR devices to work with their phones. Maybe even a full on cross connectivity with Samsung content delivered through Daydream.
We'll see what kind of deal they'll strike.
