Wow. Conceptually, this actually sounds really great. They didn't ask the big question I've been wanting answered, though: How big are the servers? 30? 50? 100? With no NPC sailors, you don't want the seas to feel too sparse, but you also don't want to be running into other players every few seconds. It's a sort of delicate balance.
Also, what are the defenses against griefing. Like, if you're on one of those quests, digging for booty, fighting skeletons, preoccupied as hell. What's your defense against some overly strong son of a bitch pirate bastard from finding you, wasting every member of your crew, and making away with your goods? He mentions safe zones, but what kind of activities can be done in those zones? Are they like Eve, where care-bears can mine in peace, safe from the predatory gaze of other savage PC's, and do safe, albeit less rewarding activities? Will the server "host" be able to kick griefing players?
