You don't mind wearing a headset with a cable, in which you have to plug in another cable for headphones, yet draw the line at plugging in an extra hdmi cable :)
Back in my day we had to plug in the cables on both ends, actually splitting into three! separate cables on one end the horror, cabled controllers, memory card, a disk, a power cord, then clean it all away again once done. Damn how did we even get to playing a game in between all that work :p
Why use it in the living room anyway? Just leave a power cord and hdmi cable there and take the ps4 to a comfortable spot to play VR games without getting disturbed. I'm sure my wife doesn't want me prancing in front of the tv while she;s trying to watch something :)

All of that together just sounds like a chore . This sounds better for the computer chair gamer where you dont have to worry about HDR and you can just have your VR getup setup on a monitor and leave it at that.
Yes, i'd hate to unplugging/plugging stuff all the time...after dumping $500 on this thing. VR right now is super half baked with this lousy tethering and extra connections...its just not accessible for a livingroom product.
