Which qualifies as a "big ol' mess" in my book. I don't dislike the story, it's schlocky and can be kinda fun at times. What I dislike is the people who seem to think it's brilliant... It's pulp novel work at best. I also don't care for Kojima's obsession with cutscenes, but I think everyone knows that already.
There's nothing really wrong with MGS, just the idea that it's something more than it really is, and that's B Grade drama. After all, there is a reason why I'm buying the game on launch day... Obviously, I don't entirely hate the series.
