Square Enix has confirmed during its latest Active Time Report that Final Fantasy 15 will support PlayStation Pro from launch.
Final Fantasy 15 PS4 Pro confirmed for day-one, but still looks great on a regular PS4
Game Director Hajime Tabata confirmed during the broadcast that a lot of work is still going into optimising the hotly anticipated JRPG for the standard PS4, and didn’t go into much detail regarding the game’s performance on PS4 Pro. Right now, it’s unknown if we can expect a possible frame rate jump, or whether it will be limited to resolution an additional visual effects.
Final Fantasy 15 is scheduled for release on November 30, 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One. The game was originally pencilled in for a late September launch, but was pushed back to allow for some additional polishing.
Square Enix originally announced the project over ten years ago at E3 2006, when was known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII for the PS3. However, after long periods of silence on the game---which formed part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series of games---the project was scrapped around 2012 at around the 25 percent complete mark and revamped into the game we know today.
Unlike previous entries in the venerated JRPG series, Final Fantasy 15 adopts a much more action-oriented approach to gameplay, although it does thankfully eschew the linear progression of FFXIII in favor of a huge open-world to explore. Square Enix has said that when you factor in side quests, Final Fantasy 15 will last around 200 hours in length.
Sony confirmed a PS4 Pro release date of November 10 during its PlayStation Meeting in New York City early last month. The console will retail for $399/£349.
