So for you beeing a gameplay-centric player you will just be closer to the world and still be able to enjoy the gameplay, one does not have to go without the other. I played "BULLETTRAIN" from Epic at a festival and it was a blast. And its all about gameplay.

That's the problem. I'm being asked to pay hundreds for dollars for this. If "that's it", I don't think it's worth the price being asked. Not just the price in dollars but the potential price in performance. VR is demanding and this could potentially impact performance negatively.
