PC Problems Q&A thread

There's a small problem with my computer:

The sound stoppped working suddenly. I had my boxes set-up on it, but always left them on when I shut down the computer. Thought it was harmless, but sudenly, the sound stopped working. I already checked if something on my main board was broke but everything worked properly, so maybe it's the card or something, I dunno!

Maybe someone knows how to restore the sound of my computer! Oh, and I already checked if it was set on mute but it wasn't... So I suspect it's the card but maybe someone here knows how to fix it without having to buy something new?!...
