I'm usually in the boat of "if it is Nintendo's next console then it is a next generation console" like Wii is same gen as PS3/360 regardless of power and same thing for wii U. BUT, this is a little extreme to consider NX same gen as PS5/XBO+ since
1. it is already underpowered compared to 8th gen. the power difference of it to 9th gen will be far greater than even wii to 360.
2. NX is a HYBRID so comparing it to next gen HOME consoles doesn't seem right.
3. NX could release 3 to 4 years before the next PS/XB. actually who knows if they will even do 5-7 year cycle since they are doing upgrade consoles.
the concept of generations is hard to apply in this situation. on topic, i have no idea since we have no clue of when the 9th gen consoles will even come out.
