I do apologize for the censorship but the post was just so big and I wanted to highlight the bolded. Regarding the bolded part, my experience is completely different. In 2014 and 2015 there were people talking the possibility of upgrades and how the traditional console generations would lose their meaning. Problem is, these talks, these people who actually had correct vision how the console landscape would change, got ignored. That's it. They got buried six feet under by the masses. It is always like that, I've seen it many times in different topics not just in gaming. You wrote a fine history lesson for console generations and for that purpose will the term "generation" continue to exist, for history lessons. Look at this thread, look how confusing has it become. It used to be clear cut and easy to understand for everyone, there was no misundertanding, the term served a purpose in all kinds of discussions whether it was casual or hardcore. But now, the term has weakened and it will continue to do so looking at the console market. Look at phones, televisions, computers, these can be divided into generations but yet nobody does it anymore, it's become irrelevant to the discussion and I believe that will happen to console market. |
So you're saying its time to hand out the pitchforks and torches and go after Nintendo for screwing with our nice neat generations? I'm not saying that because I'm overstocked on pitchforks and torches or anything ...
