As for the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio, we have plenty of cases of mid-gen spec upgrades of existing platforms. From the Atari 7200, Sega Mark III/Master System, and NEC SuperGrafx to the Game Boy Color, DSi, and New 3DS, there have been no shortage of systems that have gotten a boost in power but still remained fundamentally the same platform. The Pro and Scorpio have have much more powerful GPUs, but their CPUs and RAM aren't drastically better, and they're still fundamentally the same platform, with the extra power going into 4K, HDR, and VR. They are no more "next-gen" than the New 3DS is. While the initial rumors of their existence essentially created the entirety of all discussion about "generation-less" and "iterative" consoles (based on my own Google searches on the subject, it seems that literally nobody was talking about such things prior to this year), there's a lot of people now saying that they challenge our very notion of console generations. They don't. It's quite clear why they exist in the first place (ultra-high-def displays and virtual reality devices), and it's quite clear that they have historical precedents. Nothing new under the sun here, people.

I do apologize for the censorship but the post was just so big and I wanted to highlight the bolded. Regarding the bolded part, my experience is completely different. In 2014 and 2015 there were people talking the possibility of upgrades and how the traditional console generations would lose their meaning. Problem is, these talks, these people who actually had correct vision how the console landscape would change, got ignored. That's it. They got buried six feet under by the masses. It is always like that, I've seen it many times in different topics not just in gaming.

You wrote a fine history lesson for console generations and for that purpose will the term "generation" continue to exist, for history lessons. Look at this thread, look how confusing has it become. It used to be clear cut and easy to understand for everyone, there was no misundertanding, the term served a purpose in all kinds of discussions whether it was casual or hardcore. But now, the term has weakened and it will continue to do so looking at the console market. Look at phones, televisions, computers, these can be divided into generations but yet nobody does it anymore, it's become irrelevant to the discussion and I believe that will happen to console market.

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.
