Miyamotoo yes marketing was bad, but there are plenty of people that do know what the Wii U is, and dont want it either.
Its bigger than just a marketing problem.
Its the hardware itself, and the games for it, just arnt enough to draw people into buying it.
That is a bigger problem than their marketing.
There are too many people that simply dont want a Wii U.
Even if it had the worlds best marketing, it would still have failed.
