The thing is: the NX won't be regarded as a true 9th gen console, because 1. it will be competing with the PS4 and Xbone and 2. its specs are heavily rumored to be even less than the 3 year old current gen consoles.
PS5 is gonna come out Holiday 2019 and Xbone Two is likely Holiday 2020.
I think Sony has decided 2016 is the mid gen upgrade with the PS4 Pro and imo 3 year is a good refreshment cycle. Not sure what MS is doing will be effective as PS5 rumors will start circulating in 2018. MS should've brought the Scorpio this year and start over again in 2019 rather than trying to be disruptive, they barely hold on to a few markets.
