It's hard to know how accurate this actual poll is (it'd be incredibly difficult for them to account for all the variables outside of sample size, so while i could be right, i'd expect that to be down to chance rather than accurate extrapolation), but sample size wise 284k would be fine for a global poll. That's about 1 vote per 26,000~ people. Most polls for the U.S. election have a sample size of about 1000, which is a 1 vote per 320,000~ people. The largest poll RCP have listed in their latest 10 is 13.5k from NBC, which would be about 1 in 23.5k.

While the actual number is fine, we don't know actually how mnay people voted when a single person can cast multiple votes.  If 4chan indeed rigged the poll, then you can say that perhaps more than half of these were cast from 4chan itself.

I know, i was referring purely to the sample size (since that's what he was specifically looking at). I mentioned that i doubt the poll is particularly accurate (or at least if it is, i'd expect that to be more down to chance than the poll itself), since there are too many uncontrolled variables that can swing the result.
