It's hard to know how accurate this actual poll is (it'd be incredibly difficult for them to account for all the variables outside of sample size, so while i could be right, i'd expect that to be down to chance rather than accurate extrapolation), but sample size wise 284k would be fine for a global poll. That's about 1 vote per 26,000~ people. Most polls for the U.S. election have a sample size of about 1000, which is a 1 vote per 320,000~ people. The largest poll RCP have listed in their latest 10 is 13.5k from NBC, which would be about 1 in 23.5k.
