There is a difference in this case. If Luckey had donated millions directly to Trump's campaign then I don't think anyone would have batted an eyelid. The fact is he's donated money to a group known for posting racist, misogynistic shit so it ceases to be purely politics. |
what is this group? who says they are racist, misogynistic etc? i m not saying the group is or is not, but those terms get thrown around quite easily and improperly these days all too often- FYI Palmer lucky Says he is supporting Johnson (i think- but neither Trump or Hilary)
legally Palmer lucky or anyone else are not allowed to donate millions to a political candidate- the maximums are in the thousands- however, companies, individuals and special interest can fund many PACS and similar to the tune of big money and most do- so this guy Lucky is getting treated as if he did something over and above but it is actually very common-
I doubt he is going to donate to a group that is actually racist or misogonist because it would not help him or any of the candidates he may or may not support- but i have not seen/read anything about this group yet - prople are getting called racist and or misogonist fpr simply disagreeing with some peoples views so until i learn more about this group ill reserve judgement as we all should
for the record, the little i have read about Palmer Lucky (it had nothing to do with politics) he seems like a class A prick- but just because he is or may be an Uber prick does not mean he should be held to a different standard than the thousands of other wealthy people and companies that use their own and other peoples money to buy influence or support something theyy believe- What he has done is legal and common place
