The 360 is selling a lot more than the PS3 in North America (this site's numbers and NPD's numbers prove that). Also the 360 is outselling the PS3 in Europe as a whole because of the lead it has in the UK. And although the PS3 is outselling the 360 in Japan it simply isn't doing well enough to make up for North America and Europe. The simple fact is the gap is widening every month between the 360 and the PS3 and developers can't help but notice it. |

Look I deal in the present and presently the 360 is outselling the PS3 worldwide and has a much larger installed base. Maybe the PS3 might suddenly start taking off (umm lets see people said that would happen when Motorstorm came out and it didn't happen) but who knows I guess it could happen at sometime in the future. |
thesource - At the moment, the breakdown for sales in 2007 is.. Wii - 54.5% PS3 - 23.2% 360 - 22.2% So PS3 has slightly out sold the 360 this year, so stfu maybe. and Motorstorm slightly raised sales, but what all of you fail to see is Motorstorm "maintained sales" at around 130k for the month it came out. |
What's interesting is that if you look at VGchartz's. . . charts. . . and compare the PS3 and 360 with launches alligned, they're close right now. The 360 was better in the begining, then the PS3 had an area above the 360, but they look about even now. |
Seriously why bother aligning launches? We deal in the hear and now not in some alternate reality where the PS3 and Xbox 360 launched at the same time. The reality is that the PS3 is in third place and falling further behind and is having truly dismal software sales on top of all that. |
Yep, Legend is correct. Here is reality:
1) The Xbox360 has a 6.5 million unit lead on the PS3.
2) The 360 is selling better than the PS3 right now, so that lead is growing.
3) The Xbox360 has a much better attach rate than the PS3 does.
In short, the 360 has more consoles sold, is selling new systems at a higher sales rate, has more games sold, and is selling the games at a much higher sales rate. The PS3 is being thoroughly trounced by the 360 in every relevant category. You can believe that long term, these trends won't hold up -- that's fine, although I believe otherwise, for my own reasons. Just remember that in the present, the 360 is decisively beating the PS3.
