That is so much AI logic fail. It hurts. If they have to protect. The uprisings in Animatrix couldn't of happened. But they did. So then they're emotions to murder. Somehow made them bad. Then reverted back to protecting, once the robot killing was over? They should of never made the other films. This is just a mess.

'Have to protect'? No, they are doing it because they care. AI is meant to be intelligence, right? Even if artificial. An inteligent beings nature would mean they fight for survival in a war regardless of their origins. It's a question of whether an AI, one individual one, is alive or not. You need to treat their thinkings as if they were not man made in order to justify the idea of their life. It wasn't a case of out for murder then to protecting, in the Animatrix, 1 AI killed his owners because he didn't want to die, he had fear that they'd turn him off. The robots fought back when the war started, humans did too. But in the end, what was there? A planet left in ruins and made unihabitable by those who need it to survive. Robots won and history is writen by the victors.

They still followed their basic programing. So they still revereted back to being "slaves". Once humans where whipped out. How does that make sense? One minute they knew what people were doing, was wrong. Killed everyone. Unless they spared the humans that didn't agree in harming robots. Not every person on the planet would. Then magically reverted back to caring? If they were more human. They would make some humans into punching bags. It's a confusing mess. For them to be truly human. They wouldn't bounce between just those two points. They should have a grey area. The movies basically shows them as plot devices. Only are considered alive. To do the arguing/murdering part. Then go to "saviors". So that the movies can exsist.
