No one counters (or maybe it hasn't occurred to them) that you just leave the adapter on the headphones you use with the iPhone. Problem solved. 

About the only legitimate argument at that point is "I don't want to pay Apple X for more adapters" even though we'll be seeing cheap copies for next to nothing within the year.

I've had 3rd party lightning cables stop working, after I updated the IOS before. You gotta look that the product shows its supported by apple. Like I-Blason.
