Sure it might be a big deal to a few that don't own a 4K TV, but also, to many many others it is not.

Fact is simple. How many times have you seen the "I buy a console since i dont need to upgrade it for its lifetime" etc. This is a bigger draw to consoles then people think. People are also making the mistake of thinking VGC = World. Fact is here is a group of Hardcore gamers and sony fans who are going to be excited about it and might make it seem like more people are excited about upgrades. But in reality no one yet knows what type of backlash or impact midgen consoles could get once released into the public. 

Hell many normal people (Who dont visit gaming sites etc) dont even know the is a new ps4pro coming yet and know more about the slim model. And they are happy buying their kids or themselfs the normal PS4 now, they could be very upset when they go into gamestop come xmas and see the is a new more powerful PS4 for just 100 more!.

You might not think the is a large group of gamers like this and an even larger group of people, but thats just cos you put to much faith in the world imo.

 

There is a lot of assumptions in your post, but the fact is both the OG PS Quad, and the PS Quad Pro, can play the same games.

Fact is simple. You don't need to upgrade.
