Sad to see Randy Gregory will be out pretty much the whole season for smoking weed. Dude has mental issues and uses marijuana to help cope. You have all this medical research showing it can help him cope, and yet the NFL fucks him over. Meanwhile during every NFL game you're bombarded with loads of alcohol ads and commercials promoting penis pills that can do damage to your heart.

There may be lots of ads for alcohol and other stuff, but the NFL is clearly about their players being role models, so what matters to them is that no NFL player consumes alcohol and stuff, or advertises one of those things. I am not sure if marijuana for medical use is legal in all states, but I don't think it is, so it makes sense that the NFL does not support it.

Look at how other major sports deal with MJ, it is largely ignored, and for good reason. Personally I hate the stuff, but certainly think players who take ~20+ weeks a year of serious physical wear and tear should be free to partake if they find it helpful. No credible study shows it to be nearly as harmful as alcohol, and the reasoning behind the prohibition of such is transparently stupid and unwise (except of course to the business interests in cotton, alcohol, and pharmaceutical areas, in addition to the self-sustaining beauracracies in law enforcement which can use such for reasoning behind balooning budgets, more aggressive tactics in dealing with the public, and so forth. The very policies of our nation at large have been so incredibly wrong-headed and counterproductive that it beggars belief that even a country filled with as many imbeciles and sychophants such as this would both embark and long pursue such a path. Even our over-the-counter medicines damage livers and cause many deaths annually, while our government and the NFL chase those who consume a plant that for all that we now know and have for decades, primarily makes people a bit happy, sleepy, and hungry. As someone with no need of additional tiredness, I am uninterested personally, but as a matter of liberty and common sense, I am aghast if not surprised at the idiocy of it all and believe that we are at last close to turning the page on this easily remedied failure in approach.
