I used to be a Myst fan when it first came out in the early 1990's.  There were copycat game that tries to mimic Myst's allure and lore, but nothing for its time could match the groundbreaking point-and-click puzzle solving adventure that helped revolutionized the genre.  Now, I just revent came across Dear Esther: Landmark Edition.  Here are few screenshot:

Games like this do not appeal to everyone. But to make Dear Esther successful, graphics play just an important of a role as gameplay.  That gameplay comes in the form for storytelling and puzzles.  Again, not for everyone.  But it can certain provide a few night of unwinding relaxation after a long day.
