Yesterday they're two bombings . One in Elizabeth, New Jersey and the other in New York Chelsea area. 29 people injured but none killed.

Suspect is Ahmad Khan Rahami born in Afghanistan but a US citizen. Captured today in Linden, New Jersey.  Suspect is Muslim.

Great to hear that no one died. Things could've gone downhill if anyone died.

Hopefully all the victims recover.

People voting for "ban muslims" are racists. It's insane that it's ~ 50/50...

Not racists, but ignorant.

I don't think banning an entire religion is fair or even logistically possible, beyond that how would you even implement such a "ban"? For something seeking to do harm specifically in retaliation of such a policy, it would be pretty easy to simply get a fake ID, there are plenty of Muslims who are fair skinned and have light eyes, so the whole "lets profile the guy who looks like Bin Laden" wouldn't necessarily work either.

Implimentation of such a policy would likely directly lead to more attacks not less, as it would make the US a bigger target and it would shame hundreds of thousands of completely innocent people and likely also fuel more hate crimes.

There should be greater vetting of people and a better screening process, I would agree with that, but it should be done in a way that respects the dignity of all people. Creating a system that antagonizes people and humilates them in public isn't going to help anyone. But you can't stop every crime from happening.

We don't ban cell phones even though they kill hundreds of people every year in traffic accidents, terrorism in the US kills maybe 5-10 people on average/year in the US. It's a problem for sure, but it also helps to have some perspective.

Unfortunately, the news is capable of blowing up stories to make things seem bigger than they are(cough cough ISIS cough). As long as these type of stories are blown all over the internet and social media, we won't stop hearing buffoons saying things like "kick out dem damn moozlims" while humping a quran.

What a surprise. How the hell do these people manage to do these kind of things without being suspected?

The internet makes it very difficult for everyone to be tracked. Just search up "ISIS lectures" and you'll get hundreds of thousands of results. Very easy for one to become an extremist and do something before we can stop them.

Islam isn't a race. Anyone can be a muslim regardless of their colour.

I think people miss the point when they say discrimination against muslims is racist.

Yes, it isn't racist, but let's move past that. The idea that one can ban 1.7 billion people is simply ridiculous and impossible to enforce. Unless they have a Muslim-detector made, banning Muslims will simply give extremists a bigger reason to attack us. Simple as that.

Bickering over terminology is a waste of time. What we should do is allow moderate scholars to teach Islam. Take away scholars who say things like kill all non-muslims or BS like that. We need to stop nitpicking at useless details and allow the moderate Muslims to overtake Islam.

On a side note, besides the bombs in NY and NJ, 8 people were stabbed in Minnesota.

In Australia, a man was stabbed by an islamist. Ishas Khan, who was know to authorities but I guess nothing was done about it.

I was pretty close when it happened. I was wondering why there were so many police cars.

People need to understand that Trump would be banning immigration from certain countries that are muslim; that doesn't mean he is banning their religion. Either way, I feel no doubt the their religion needs reform--something along the lines of the protestant reform.

Here's the thing barney.

Muslims try to become more moderate -> People criticize them for not following "true Islam" and being 'lazy' -> The "true" muslims go ahead and take power -> People criticize Muslims and tell them to change -> Muslims try to become more moderate....and so on.

In all honesty, Islam would improve significantly if people stopped nitpicking at everything and acting like anything from islam is evil. When I see people riot about whether their meat is halal or not, I just think to myself, "Does it FUCKING matter?" No, it truly doesn't. Once we stop acting like anything involving Islam is evil, then the Muslim community will stop wasting their time dealing with morons and kick off the old nutjobs who essentially forgot what it means to be Muslim.

inb4 the internet says the government did this as part of a bigger agenda :O

This was a false flag attack by the government. They want to take our illegally-obtained weapons away!

Yet they will be quick to tell you there is no connection to terrorism.

I say wait. In this day of age, it's better to check the facts before assuming. Assumptions can be costly.
