I'm about as far left as you can go so I guess I have pretty much opposite views as you. Pro-gay marriage, pro-choice, govt healthcare (already pretty much covered where I live), pro-welfare (though perhaps not as much as NZ does) and pretty easy on immigration - can't really comment on the Mexican border issue as I know little about the issue.

Thus I'm personally supporting the democrats whose ideals are closer to my own.

In NZ politics its hard to vote for anyone and make a difference as both major parties are pretty much identical - moderate centre left. Personally I'll probably vote for labour (the slightly more left party) simply because their leader (our PM for the last 9 years) is pretty entertaining and an amazing politician.
