No.

"Sony has been super cool to work with, but mainly just because they haven't been involved in development, you know?"

"Sony offered to provide development funding but Hello Games only requested financial assistance for promotion and publication."

Wasn’t Sony the Distributors? Weren’t they the ones marketing and promoting this game?

Wiki - with Sony Interactive Entertainment providing promotional and marketing support. Sony formally announced the title during their press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014.

So if you’re responsible for the promotion and marketing of NMS why didn’t they supply him with a PR agent? Why did they let him say the things he did for so long and not come out and say “Hey you need to stop posting on promises? Why did Sony not come out and correct him before the game launched?

Funny how they just stood on the side and let it happen, while claiming NMS as their own game and building up all the Pre-Order $$$.

If you’re going to claim a game as your own than they needed to do something. Now that Sony’s PS4 is in the same sentence as NMMS its all Hello Games fault, a small Indie team. I wonder if Hello Games will continue to make PS4 games after this.

Sure sure. Then you could go as far and say, Sony is completely responsible for the content of every game they're selling on their plattforms.

"People generally think of [No Man's Sky] as a Sony title, but we're still just a self funded indie studio"

"while claiming NMS as their own game and building up all the Pre-Order $$$"

BS. They never claimed the game as their own.

Your question has been answered. Sony did not work very close with Hello Games regarding developing NMS. But apperantly it never was fundamental for the judgement. Sony is to blame no matter what.

I have a few questions for you:

How did Hello Games fund themselves and why did they refuse Sonys offer of development assistance?

What exactly is included in the agreement between Sony and Hello Games?

Why was the game released despite Jean Murray expressing desire to continue working on it?
